103 Coffee Workshop @ Sri Petaling

Along Jalan Radin Bagus, Sri Petaling Kuala Lumpur, there is one of the hottest hang out spots for friends and family which is the 103 Coffee Workshop. It is a Japanese inspired cafe and as it’s known, it serves Japanese fusion food like dons, udon, snacks and some desserts. And for drinks other than coffee, they also have their own Japanese Milk tea as well! In case you haven’t heard, this cafe is home to the 2018 World Latte Art Champ. They are also known as the best coffee bean supplier in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur. You can purchase some coffee beans back home too! This cafe exudes a strong vibe of minimalist with its concrete walls and the black and grey furniture. With the furnitures of similar tone and with ample of wooden elements, soft yellow hue light exudes a warm and cozy environment of the cafe.

I came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch, and surprisingly almost every seat was taken and we had to wait outside for an empty seat. After a few minutes, we finally have an empty seat for us. We were greeted warmly by the friendly waiters. Once we were seated and were given the menu, we noticed that the table has a bottle of plain water to quench our thirst if we were. The menu is pretty wide as some certain items have pictures in it and the rest are mainly short and precise descriptions. After studying the menu, we finally decided to order some savoury dishes and tasty drinks!

-Teriyaki Chicken Don RM20

Served with bouncy sushi rice, ginger slices, spring onion and not forgetting the ‘doik, doik’ bouncy spring egg. Love the portion of the rice as the chicken was perfectly grilled, decent with sticky, savoury sweet Teriyaki sauce and sprinkled with the teriyaki sensation.

- Katsu Chicken Don RM25

A rice bowl served with deep fried breaded chicken chop, onion, spring onion, eggs and dashi sauce. The chicken is crispy and savoury. The portion of Katsu Chicken Don is huge.

- Smoked Duck Aglio Olio RM24

Not your usual spicy, oily aglio olio that pair with seafood but smoked duck instead. Spaghetti aglio olio with sliced smoked duck breast, button mushroom and arugula. I love the use of smoked duck, it just makes it more unique. Plus there are mushrooms and tomatoes to complement the taste of the whole dish, very pleasant and suitable for pasta lovers.

- Maneki Onigiri RM10

It is a salmon furikake stuffed onigiri and comes with potato and egg salad at the side. The salmon furikake had generous amounts of cooked salmon and the furikake added the fragrance of sesame seeds and a mixture of Japanese seasoning.

- Strawberry Latte RM18

Begin with a cup of strawberry ice cubes and pour with milk and then add a flask of espresso. When the strawberry ice cubes were mixed with their espresso and milk, it brought out a tinge of strawberry pink to the drink. The result of the taste is cold and refreshing, and it has a great balance with acidity, bitterness of the coffee, the sweetness and slightly tart notes from the strawberry. This Latte is so special if you hear the story. It was conceived during the 2016 Malaysia Barista Championship as the barista’s signature drink.

- Iced Earl Grey Chocolate RM17

At first sight it really looked like iced chocolate but the aftertaste was totally different. Earl Grey is a mild tea that blends Bergamot orange, lime and herbs with black tea leaves. Because Earl Grey has lime in it, means that this Iced Earl Grey Chocolate will have a fresh lemony taste as well. With the combination of Earl Grey and chocolate, you can distinctly taste the Earl Grey tea. It is really delicious and it gave me a completely new experience.

Lastly, I finally know why the customers will always come back and visit 103 Coffee Workshop. It is because the food and atmosphere are good and also the waiters were all warm which will give you a good impression. If you are a coffee lover, you should pay this place a visit.
